Administrative Professional Forum and Toastmasters!

Did you know every year there is and offering of the Administrative Professional Forum for administrative professionals of all levels? Speakers and workshops or interactive sessions are offered on various topics promoting growth in the administrative professional’s career.

This year, the forum is being held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

Organizers of the forum asked area Toastmaster clubs to set up a table for the “vendor” hour. Two or three members from the area clubs will be present to answer any questions. Brochures and a list of area clubs will be available along with sign-up sheets for individuals who want to be contacted. The sign-up sheets will be shared among the area clubs. This is a rare but wonderful opportunity to interact with the administrative professionals as a group. Hopefully, an opportunity that will be an annual event!

If you have questions, pleae contact Analisa Martinez at 844-5826.

A Message From The Division B Governor, Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Ok...

Here I have been with all best intentions to really keep this up...yet, over a Month Later and post District Conference, here I am reaching out for forgiveness in my lack of keeping our community up to date!

I am back on track and will begin once again to fully utilize thes media channel to help Toastmasters In Albuquerque keep up with activities that may be of interest. With that, I would recommend that all members think about those activities worthy to share with our community. Make sure there is a Toastmasters tie in but please send any information you may want posted to this blog and I will ensure the posting get published!

Thanks to all Toastmasters for such great support and look forward to hearing and doing great things in the future!

Welcome Albuquerque's Newest Club "Off-The-Cuff"!

Many members are often approached, asked even confronted about giving a presentation and with little or no notice! Has this ever happened to you? Does the thought make you nervous or even cringe! District 23 has a club for those who have to 'step up immediately' to a presentation or other meeting role with little to no preparation (we were surprised at how many in the District face this situation frequently). All speeches will be manual speeches.

The "Off-The-Cuff" Club is Albuquerque’s newest club and you are invited to join us for the inaugural meeting Wednesday, July 17th at 6:30 PM at 2800 San Mateo NE, Suite 111. Don't just hear about it, experience it!

What Is The "Parking Lot"?

At this Summers TLI, we are introducing the "Parking Lot". There are several ways that many professionals use a "Parking Lot" but just how does this work?

Here is the rationalle about use of the "Parking Lot" during the TLI!

All club members, officers, leaders have issues they encounter within the Toastmasters Community. Bring this issues up during the TLI and let's get them on the "Parking Lot". The "Parking Lot" intent is to capture these questions and then:

1) As answered, many may pick something up they wondered about before or did not know!
2) As unknown or unable to be answered, this is where the subject, issue or question is taken and the answer is obtained, then shared with the community. Keep in mind, some answers may not be THE ANSWER you are looking for but the intent is to get the answers and share them among members throughout the District.
3) The Division B/C initial TLI received 6 items, see below for sample of tracking...the next TLI on July 13th should start by sharing the update below and adding to the "Parking Lot". Not only do we get to see our issues and concerns find references, details and feedback to help answer those nagging questions, we will have an on-going reference indefinately.

4) This should be carried throughout the TLI Sessions and serve as a living document - go over at the end of TLI and make sure we capture any valuable inputs or "UNANSWERED" issues...think others will benefit, learn those short cuts, tricks and tools of the trade - get it on the "Parking Lot" and share the knoweldge, expertise and information!

As a final reference to only my second ever "Blog"...geeezzzz, what next? See below for the Acronym Guide as created from part of the First TLI session and grief as openly discussed:)! See the difference already...or is it not really valuable. Who am I to say...but hope you do find this of value as I am!
