Taylor Ranch Toastmasters Host Small Business Owners Seminar! (Thanks Larry B.!)

How do you craft an effective sales presentation? First, you need to know a lot about your prospective customer so you can address how valuable your product or service might be.

This is the first of three seminars focusing on presentation skills for small business owners. You will learn a three-step process for assessing your customer’s needs prior to preparing your presentation, how to structure your presentation so it is logical and easy to follow, how to capture your audience in the first 30 seconds, and how to incorporate rehearsal into your everyday life. You will also learn the mistake that exists in over 80% of sales presentations and how to eliminate that error from your presentation.

This seminar will be presented twice. The first presentation will be Tuesday, April 29, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Taylor Ranch Community Center, 4900 Kachina St. NW. The second presentation will be Thursday, May 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the BioScience Center, 5901 Indian School Road NE. There is no cost for the seminar. However, you must register by sending your name to: larry@bosquecommunications. Please indicate which seminar you wish to attend. Attendance is limited to 21 members.

The second and third seminars, which will be presented later this year, will focus on incorporating effective stories into your presentation and the latest understanding of how to communicate with PowerPoint.

Larry Buelow, president of Bosque Communications LLC, will present the seminars. Since retiring from Lockheed Martin in 2008, Larry has focused his energy on mentoring and coaching young professionals in the Albuquerque area. He has successfully assisted small-business entrepreneurs in increasing sales and acquiring venture capital by creating succinct and dynamic presentations. Larry recently received his certification as a World Class Public Speaking Coach, one of only two in New Mexico. The processes developed under this program will enable you to communicate your message more succinctly and compose your presentations with far less effort.

District Proxy Update (Thanks TK)

- Each Club President and VPE has a vote (that is, clubs each get 2 votes)
- If the President and/or VPE is not attending the business meeting, they may give their vote - via proxy - to another member of the club (So the Area 22 Governor could carry Cherry Hills votes only if she is a member of the club)
- Each Toastmaster may carry a maximum of 2 votes
- DEC members get an additional vote as a DEC member; so DEC members may carry up to 3 votes
- DEC votes CANNOT be proxied.

To help with understanding, the proxy (see link below) also has this information.
